Sandra Rosas is an Academic Advisor with the College of Engineering for Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen, she advises students in General Engineering, Interdisciplinary Engineering and Multidisciplinary Engineering Technology. Sandra graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, obtaining her Bachelor of Social Work, and received her Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. Sandra had worked with a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education known as TRIO programs at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as the College Readiness Coordinator with the Upward Bound Math and Science program. She served first-generation Hispanic students and families to prepare students to matriculate into post-secondary educational settings, encouraging them to pursue STEM careers.
Other career experiences include extensive community outreach in colonias along the Texas-Mexico border with Texas A&M University- Center for Housing and Urban Development program, Mujeres Unidas and Southwest Keys Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program.
Sandra’s husband is an army veteran, and they are proud parents of their son, whom is an engineer at Lockheed Martin, and their Schnoodle and Pomapoo dogs. In her spare time, Sandra enjoys keeping an active lifestyle with hobbies like running, yoga and pilates.
